The governor of the U.S. state of New Jersey signed into law, under which the municipal authorities have the right to provide wireless broadband services along with other utilities. Localities of the State can now offer wireless Internet access on their own or to hire private companies for this. Cost of service will be determined by the municipality, according to Asbury Park Press.
Apparently, the negative experience of the deployment of municipal wireless networks in several large cities, city officials are not afraid of many other settlements. Obviously, if successful, the positive aspects of universal universal urban network is too attractive to pass up on this idea.
